SPEAKING · TECHNIQUE GUIDE
Repeat Sentence
Capture meaningful chunks and protect fluency when memory is incomplete.
What to look for
- Meaning chunks rather than isolated words
- Content words carrying the message
- Original word order
Decision process
- Listen for short phrase groups
- Hold the sequence of chunks
- Start promptly and speak continuously
- If a small part is lost, preserve what you remember instead of freezing
Common traps
- Trying to memorize every word separately
- Restarting repeatedly
- Sacrificing fluency to recover one missing word
Apply it
Hear: “The new policy / will affect students / from next semester.” Retain three ordered chunks.
Now try it on your own sentence.
